HYDERABAD: Police arrested two persons for selling sedative drugs illegally and seized 4,500 ampules of the drug here on Thursday.Srihari Rakesh, who runs the Suma Medical Corporation at Kacheguda was used to sell drugs illegally to one, Mohd Feroz, who runs Motani’s medical shop at Basheerbagh.The sedative drug, Pentwin, used by authorised medical practitioners as anesthesia dose was being sold by Srihari.As per the manufacturers label, Pentwin is a schedule-H drug which should not be sold without doctor’s prescription.Srihari used to purchase the drug for Rs 4 per ample from a dealer and sell it to Feroze for `15 and the latter, then sold it to customers for `30 to 35, police said.The accused have a list of customers who are addicted to Pentwin.The accused contact them through SMSes and sell the drug,’’ police added.Based on information, the Dabeerpura police and the South Zone DCP team arrested the duo and seized 4,500 amples from Srihari’s residence in Miralam Mandi.The case would be handed over to the Drugs and Medical Control Board for further investigation, police said.
