HYDERABAD: Congress MP JD Seelam’s remarks at a seminar on Dalit Christians here on Friday that the state government has been neglecting Christians made chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy seeth with anger.Seelam alleged that even during YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime Dalit Christians were neglected.Kiran Kumar Reddy termed Seelam’s remarks as ‘unfair’ and said that his government was committed to the welfare of Christians and other minorities.He said his government constructed buildings for 1,000 schools in the state with an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh to each school. On scarcity of lands for burial grounds, the chief minister assured that the government would acquire land for burial grounds.The meeting demanded the Central government to grant SC status to Dalit Christians. It also recalled that a Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha to confer SC status on Dalit Christians and there was no need for amending the Constitution for the same.
