'Left violating coalition dharma'
The Union Water Resources Minister has said that the Left parties are not consistent in their approach and should not break the coalition dharma.

Thiruvananthapuram: Union Water Resources Minister P R Dasmunshi accused the Left parties of violating the 'coalition dharma' by issuing threats and said issues resulting from India's vote against Iran at IAEA will be settled 'without disappointing' any political party.

"Threats are no solution to any problem. When we have differences of opinion, we should sit together and discuss the issue," he said.

He also said that the Marxists in China, who were dead against WTO at one time, were now begging for a seat in the organisation and added that the Left always change their thoughts after some time.

The Minister said CPI-M had a three-dimensional face in Delhi, Kerala and West Bengal.

"Karat defends Stalinism in Kerala while West Bengal Chief Minister stands against bandhs and hartals and invite MNCs to his state. The same party is stalling development in Kerala."

The CPI-M should address this issue first among them before blaming Congress, Dasmunshi said adding the Marxists had now realised that they could not fight communal forces without backing Congress.

Dasmunshi said the UPA leadership would certainly hold discussions with the Left parties before taking a decision on the matter.

The UPA government in the last one-and-a-half years had started implementing half the programmes listed in the CMP, he claimed.

On the river-linking project, he said that the centre will not force any state on the matter as the state's interests needs to be protected.
