HYDERABAD: Leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu has urged chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to talk to his Karnataka counterpart and ensure release of at least 3 tmcft of Krishna water from the Narayanpur dam into the Jurala reservoir whose water has reached the dead storage and farmers under its ayacut are face a famine- like situation.In a letter to the chief minister, the Telugu Desam president said Mahbubnagar was in need of urgent attention since it was one of the districts affected most by drought. All the 64 mandals in the district had been declared drought-hit, he recalled. Towns and villages were facing drinking water scarcity as many drinking water supply schemes depended on the Jurala project.Paddy and groundnut crops grown in 80,000 acres needed water supply for another 20 to 25 days, he said.
