The ’90s was all about the actresses who came, saw and conquered the entertainment industry with their captivating beauty, impeccable talent and humble personality that only added to their overall persona. Many divas ruled the hearts of the audience for their timeless charm and effervescent persona. One such diva was Manisha Koirala, who witnessed immense success at the beginning of her career but moving forward, she came across numerous difficulties in life. However, she chose to fight all her battles on her own.

Manisha Koirala was one of the most sought-after actresses of her time. She was not only popular across the Hindi film industry but garnered a sizable fan following in South cinema as well. The star solidified her position as a talented actress for her appearance in films like Bombay (1995), Indian (1996), and Mudhalvan (1999). Manisha also acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se. The songs of the film emerged as chartbusters of the year.

Manisha Koirala hails from a powerful political family in Nepal. To fulfil her dream of working in films, she came to India to try her luck in Bollywood and made her debut with the film Saudagar in 1991. The film was a monstrous hit at the box office owing to which the actress became a star overnight. As the actress became the first choice of every filmmaker, she bagged 6 films within two years of her debut.

However, the successful journey did not last long and the actress gradually faded away from Bollywood. Between 1993 and 1996, Koirala delivered a total of 11 flop films. During her entire career, she gave around 50 flop films.

The gorgeous actress’ life has been full of challenges. She struggled with alcohol addiction and even went to rehab to get rid of it. Later, in 2012, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She underwent numerous surgeries, chemotherapy and treatment, and came out stronger in mid-2014 after defeating the life-threatening disease.

Manisha made a comeback with Sanju (2018) and the Netflix movie Lust Stories (2018). She was last seen in the film Shehzada, starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. Next, she will soon be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Heeramandi which is one of the most anticipated projects of the year.
