Kannada Actress Chandni Recalls Her Experience Of Debuting With Upendra-starrer A
Upendra had to get approval from Chandni's mother to let her act in the movie.

Many Kannada film fans still recall the famous film headlined by actor Upendra titled A. Actress Chandni played the female lead in this movie and it emerged to be one of the best films of her career. Recently, in an interview with News-18 Kannada Digital, Chandni shared some interesting anecdotes from this film. Chandni recalled that Upendra was convinced to rope her in the film after he came across some of her pictures, while she was staying in New York. A’s producers also agreed with his opinion. To fit the bill for the character, Upendra advised Chandni to cut her hair short. This film was released at the theatres in 1998. Upendra even had to get approval from Chandni’s mother as well for her role in the movie. She was staying in Bengaluru at that time. Upendra reached out to her and assured her that he would take care of Chandni like his own sister. Her mother was assured and she gave her go-ahead to Chandni to act in the movie.

Chandni recalled that the film’s unit was struck with another problem even after her mother’s go-ahead. According to Chandni, Upendra and the film crew were not able to get a correct idea regarding her exact age from the pictures. When she arrived at the set, Upendra and the crew members felt that she was underage to suit the requirements of the role. Despite the initial apprehensions, Upendra was assured that Chandni would be the perfect actress to be cast in his film. Chandni recalled that Upendra had said that her eyes are a key factor that helped her fit the bill for the role.

According to Chandni, her first day at the shooting was filled with fun and she enjoyed every bit of the shooting. She was getting her makeup done when Upendra opined that there was no need for this thing. Chandni agreed with his opinion and started shooting without any makeup.

Chandni ended the interview by saying that the audience still appreciated her acting in A. She said that they were unable to understand the storyline of the film.
