Haryana Education Department has decided to take stern action against errant publishers for delays in the printing of school textbooks. The state government would also regard the bank guarantees paid by such publishers as forfeit.
Disclosing this in Chandigarh on Saturday, state Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said that the government had right away decided to start the tender process for the printing of texts for the next academic session in order to avoid any delays. This time, more publishers would be awarded the printing works.
Bhukkal said that office-bearers of the Teachers' Association had recently met her regarding the above and other issues concerning the department. They have been called for another meeting on August 5, she said. In order to improve the level of education in the state, the Education Department would work together with the Teachers' Association and all matters would be solved amicably through dialogue, Bhukkal added.
Bhukkal said counselling was being done to ensure that adequate presence of teachers could be secured for all schools in the state. Regarding transfers, Bhukkal said that the policy was transparent and the teachers' body completely agreed with it.
