DU ex-lab assistant alleges sexual assault, sets herself on fire
The woman has alleged that the college principal and one employee had sexually assaulted her.

New Delhi: A woman who was employed as a lab assistant in a Delhi University college set herself on fire on Monday alleging sexual assault by the college principal and one employee. While the police are yet to act against the college principal and the other employee over the allegations, they have registered an attempt to suicide case against the woman.

The victim is in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment at LNJP hospital in Delhi. According to her the alleged sexual assault took place almost three years ago. She claimed that she complained to other Delhi University officials but no action was taken. Instead she alleged that she was sacked in 2012 from the college.

Her husband is a head constable in Delhi Police, but even then the police officials have not taken any action on her complaint.

Later the woman met and complained to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi university Vice-Chancellor, Delhi LG and even the National Commission for Women, but still no action was action.

So she poured kerosene and set herself on fire outside the Delhi Secretariat on September 30.
