Appropriation Bill was on Wednesday approved by the Jharkhand Assembly, paving the way for expenditure for next fiscal with Speaker Sashank Sekhar Bhokta clarifying that the exercise did not come under Model Code of Conduct though it coincided with the announcement of general elections.
Bhokta told media that passing of the Appropriation Bill by the House was not a violation of Model Code of Conduct.
Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer P K Jajoria separately also told a news conference later that passing th Appropriation Bill by the House was not (not) a violation of Model Code of Conduct.
A senior Assembly official said all the grants earmarked for different departments under the total budget of Rs 50,387.7 crore for 2014-15 had been passed till Tuesday after the government tabled the budget on February 21, paving the way for expenditure from the state exchequer from April 1.
Later, the Speaker adjourned the House sine die after the Business Advisory Committee unanimously agreed for it following the announcement of the polls.
The Budget session of the House was schedule till March 7.
