New Delhi: 36 days to go and the Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee is going to miss another deadline for the Games and this time it's blaming it on the weather.
Urban Development Minister and the man heading the Group of Ministers (GoM) for the Commonwealth Games Jaipal Reddy, has admitted that the deadline of completing the stadia, will be missed. He has blamed rains for the delay and admitted that CWG work won't be finished by August 31.
'The schedule is not met strictly. It is being delayed by a couple of days because of rains and delay in delivery of containers'," said Jaipal Reddy.
August 31, was the deadline of hading over all the stadia and for the Games work to be finished. The 11-days mega games event to begin on October 3, 2010.
This is not the first time the deadline has been extended. Earlier, the GoM had set August 31 as the date for construction to be completed, technology and communication networks to be installed and venues to be handed over to the Organising Committee, so that testing can begin. But now Jaipal Reddy has said project deadlines have been delayed by a couple of days.
