Zomato Customer Receives Non-Veg Momos During Navratri; Company Apologises For 'Big Mix-Up'
"How you can make this big mistake," wrote the customer in a social media post.

A man recently expressed dissatisfaction and slammed the online delivery platform after he received non-vegetarian momos instead of vegetarian. This incident occurred during Chaitra Navratri, a period when many Hindus abstain from consuming non-vegetarian food for nine days. This year Chaitra Navratri started on April 9. Posting a photo of the momos box marked with a red “non-veg” label, Akash Gupta shared his frustration on X, stating, “Hello Wowmomo, zomato, I’m purely vegetarian and I ordered veg things. But I got all nonveg items from your outlet, and the bad thing is Navratri going on. How you can make this big mistake!”

This post soon garnered a quick response from Zomato which delivered the food, and Wow Momo, the fast food outlet that sent the food. Zomato commented on Gupta’s query and wrote, “Hi Akash, this is one big mix-up. It’s very serious and certainly not what we stand for. Mind sharing the order ID via DM so that we can resolve it ASAP.”

Wow Momo also responded and wrote, “Dear Akash! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We would never want something like this to be happen. Requesting you to please share your invoice and contact details at [email protected] so that we can get in touch with you.” Interestingly, Gupta deleted his post soon. It is unclear how the matter was resolved and who was at fault.

This is not the first time that customers have complained of getting non-vegetarian food instead of vegetarian food. Last year in April, an X user Natasha Bhardwaj wrote on X that she ordered biryani rice with aloo from a restaurant on Swiggy. The dish that she got was marked vegetarian but she soon found a meat piece in the dish. She shared a screenshot of her order receipt, a photo of the “meat” piece in the biryani, and a screen recording of her conversation with Swiggy customer service.

While sharing this “evidence” Bhardwaj wrote, “If you’re a strict vegetarian (like me) think twice before ordering from Swiggy.I ordered biriyani rice with aloo which is clearly MARKED AS VEGETARIAN on the platform and I found a piece of meat (could be chicken, mutton or anything!) in the rice.” She added, “Swiggy executives are least bothered – they said that the restaurant clearly said that the items are non-veg and they don’t know why it’s marked as veg on Swiggy, and Swiggy wanted us to talk to the restaurant directly to solve the issue! They just said you can share your feedback with us which we will pass on to the restaurant – as if that would cure the mental trauma I had to face on receiving non-vegetarian food.”
