This Indian Reddit User Bought iPhone 16 For Rs 27,000. Here's How

The excitement around Apple products reached new heights following the launch of the iPhone 16 series. While many consumers paid full price to purchase the latest device, some smart shoppers knew how to use their credit cards strategically for discounts. Recently, a Reddit user amazed everyone by disclosing that they bought the iPhone 16 with 256 GB of storage for just Rs 27,000. This unexpected price left many shocked, while others were genuinely happy for the buyer. To prove their point, the user even shared a screenshot of the purchase receipt, which shows that they paid Rs 26,970 from their credit card. However, the remaining cost was covered by reward points accumulated on their card.

According to the screenshot shared by the user, they managed to buy the iPhone 16, worth Rs 89,900, for the lowest price. They paid Rs 26,970 using their HDFC Infinia credit card and used Rs 62,930 worth of credit card points to cover the remaining amount. Despite using the card cleverly, the user wrote, “Thanks to the reward points. I now regret using this card for some of my big spends.”

When a Redditor asked why they regretted using their card for the purchase, the individual explained, “I used Amazon pay card for jewellery purchases just for 1% cashback thinking Infinia won’t give any points on jewellery but it actually does.”

Another inquired, “Approx how much did you do to accumulate 62930 Points?” The user replied, “About 15 Lakh.”

“I am having 50k regalia points but I can’t find the option to use points for iPhone 13,” a comment read.

An individual shared, “The only way to buy Apple with reward points is using Infinia portal under all things apple and there is no iPhone 16 there. A new iPhone showing on smartbuy so early is unprecedented.”

One more added, “That’s not the wisest use of points at all. But still, congratulations on the new phone.”
