Alexander Zhadan has now submitted his marriage application.

The use of AI has permeated all parts of our lives. Recently, a programmer from Russia took the use of AI one step further after he trained ChatGPT to communicate with girls on dating sites on his behalf. By making slight moderations on ChatGPT, Alexander was able to speak to over 5,000 girls before he decided to propose to Karina, his now partner. The couple has now submitted their marriage application. While speaking to RIA Novosti, a Russian news agency, Alexander said, “I gave ChatGPT information about how I communicate. At first, there were problems because the program didn’t know me, it could write some kind of nonsense, but later I trained it to such an extent that it began to interact with girls like me.”

He later put up some filters so that the AI’s neural network would shortlist women to whom he should continue talking. After meeting Karina in person, Alexander realised that she might be the one. He said, “When Karina and I met live, I realized that it was possible to stop this system, and retrained her as an analyst of correspondence with Karina.” The neural network he created told him where to go on dates, what to say in certain situations, and even “how to calm down.”

At the end of 2023, Alexander proposed to Karina after the ChatGTP told him that “their relationship is balanced and strong.” Recently the couple submitted a marriage application to the registry office. Karina did not know that Alexander proposed to her or initiated their relationship on the ‘advice’ of the neural network but once she got the news, she reacted ‘calmy’.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the software programmer explained how to create a program that can help one find an ideal partner and said, “You need to understand the economics, how and where it is integrated, but the creation of such a program can be allowed with many features. What I have done is a personal product.”

In recent years, many popular dating apps like Tinder and Bumble have admitted to using AI in their backend system. On its website, Bumble disclosed that it uses OpenAI. The dating app clarified that “AI only uses your public profile information, such as your life and interest badges, age, work, education, and city (e.g., London), to create relevant conversation starters.”
