‘Siuuu’: Carlos Alcaraz Signs Camera Glass With Trademark Cristiano Ronaldo Exclamation
After beating his Chinese opponent, Alcaraz signed one of the courtside cameras and also wrote ‘Siuuu’ on the camera glass beside his initials, referring to Ronaldo’s iconic celebration.

Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz paid a warm homage to Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. The 21-year-old won the French Open and Wimbledon this year. He recently took on China’s home favourite Wu Yibing on Sunday, October 6. After beating his Chinese opponent, Alcaraz signed one of the courtside cameras but what followed next excited fans all over the world. The Spaniard also wrote ‘Siuuu’ on the camera glass beside his initials, referring to Ronaldo’s iconic celebration. A video of Alcaraz’s act was shared on X (formerly Twitter). “‘Siuuu’, Carlos Alcaraz with a nod to Cristiano,” the post read.

Alcaraz is one of Ronaldo’s biggest fans. The Portugal legend is currently chasing down more silverware in the Saudi Pro League. The 39-year-old is going strong outside Europe, having scored his 900th career goal last month. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has also put up several talismanic performances for Al-Nassr this season.

As for Alcaraz, the youngster won the Shanghai Masters 2024 third-round match against Wu Yibing 7-6(5), 6-3. It was his 11th straight ATP-tour level win. The Spaniard kicked off his campaign at the ATP Master 1000 event with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 second-round victory over Shang Juncheng. Things were slightly more complicated with Yibing, especially in the first set. Eventually, the world’s number-three-ranked star came out on top to win what was his 100th hard-court victory.

Alcaraz was quite impressed with Wu Yibing’s performance on Sunday. He later spoke about how the Chinese star did not let him get comfortable throughout the game. “I don’t want to say I was surprised, but it was the first time I was playing against him. He just beat [Nicolas] Jarry really easily, 6-2, 6-2, so that’s impressive. I had to be focused on playing my best,” he said, as per ATP Tour.

Speaking further, Alcaraz also expressed how he felt different things during the whole game. “I’m not used to feeling the feelings I had on the court. He is a really powerful player, plays really strong, so I felt like I was not dominating the game,” he said.

Alcaraz is next set to compete in the Round of 16 of the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday, October 9.
