Samsung will host this year’s second Galaxy Unpacked event today, where the South Korean tech giant is expected to unveil new Samsung Galaxy A52 and Samsung Galaxy A72 smartphones. The two phones have been a part of the rumour mill for some time, and at least one of the devices is said to support 5G connectivity. The virtual event, “Galaxy Awesome Unpacked" will begin at 10 AM ET (7:30 PM IST). Samsung does not highlight the products launching today though the ‘awesome’ themed promotion is similar to the flavour the company gave to last year’s Galaxy A-series smartphones. At the first Unpacked event earlier this year, Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy S21 series.

The Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event can be streamed live through Samsung’s YouTube channel. The live stream will also be accessible via the Samsung Newsroom site. Readers can check out the live event at 7:30 PM through the video embedded below. As mentioned, Samsung is expected to unveil at least two new mid-budget A-series smartphones during the latest event. Though it may seem unusual for a manufacturer to dedicate a full event to mid-range smartphones, Samsung has been rumoured to bring most of its premium features to budget products to compete with its Chinese counterparts like Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus.

Multiple leaks hint that Samsung Galaxy A52 and the Samsung Galaxy A72 will feature high refresh rate displays, Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and more.

According to past leaks, the Samsung Galaxy A72 may feature a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is also rumoured to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset and come with a quad rear camera with a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 5-megapixel macro shooter, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. It might carry a 32-megapixel front shooter for selfies and video calling.

The Samsung Galaxy A52, on the other hand, is expected to come with a similar quad-camera setup with a 64-megapixel primary shooter, and a 32-megapixel front camera. The Samsung Galaxy A52 is also expected to come with IP67 certification for dust and water-resistance. It may also support Dolby Atmos and have 30x Space Zoom as well.
