We’ll also tell you where to find symbols and give you a few ideas to create your own aesthetic channel names.
How to Add Symbols to a Discord Channel Name

Adding Symbols to Channel Names

On desktop Click the Android 7 Settings gear icon to the right of the channel name. You can also right-click the channel name (or Ctrl-click, on a Mac with no right mouse button) and select Edit Channel. Click the emoji icon on the right side of the Channel Name text box. Browse for the emoji you want using the tabs on the side of the menu, or search for a specific emoji by typing keywords into the search box at the top. Click an emoji to add it to the channel name, then click Save Changes in the banner at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, you can copy and paste a symbol from your computer’s clipboard into the Channel Name field.

In the mobile app Press and hold the channel name. Tap Edit Channel. Tap the Channel Name text field. Open your phone’s emoji keyboard. Select a symbol to add it to the channel name. You can also copy and paste a symbol saved to your mobile device’s clipboard. Tap Save in the top right corner.

Where to Find Channel Symbols

Use Discord’s emoji library. The easiest option is to add a symbol using the built-in emoji library in the Discord app. You’ll find all the standard emojis here.

Get them from your computer’s special characters menu. As long as it’s a standard Unicode symbol, you should be able to use any special character from your computer’s library. This includes both emojis and other symbols, like musical notes and mathematical symbols. On a Windows computer, press the Windows key + . (period) to open your special characters menu. On a Mac, press Ctrl + Command + Spacebar to open the special characters menu. Copy and paste the symbol(s) you want into the channel name text field.

Copy and paste symbols from a website. There are several websites that offer symbols you can copy and paste into Discord, including pre-formatted channel titles. Browse sites like emojicombos.com or emojipedia.org to find what you’re looking for.

Aesthetic Symbol Ideas

Use simple Unicode symbols for a minimalist look. If you don’t like the look of standard emojis in your server’s sidebar, opt for simple Unicode characters instead. You can either combine characters to make old-school emoticons or use pictorial symbols (like Webdings, Wingdings, or Unicode Hieroglyphs). For example, you could have a channel called “‎‧₊˚✧support✧˚₊‧” or “☕︎‖General Chat”.

Pick emojis that fit the theme of your server. For example, if your server is dedicated to D&D, use fantasy-themed symbols in your channel names. If you have a sports-themed server, use sports symbols, and so on. Your tabletop gaming server might have channel names like “????‖ Rules” or “????⚔️????☆ Roles”. For a foodie server, go with channel names like “????????????️‖ Vegetarian Recipes” or “????✧ World Cuisine”.

Choose emojis that fit your server’s mood. If you’re going for vibes more than a specific theme, try symbols that capture the general tone of your server. For instance, go with beautiful nature-themed emojis to set a chill, peaceful mood. Your sidebar could look something like this: ????Announcements ????General ????Off-Topic ????️Accountability Buddies
