The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved a proposal on Tuesday to implement the pay committee’s recommendations for increasing the special incentive given to 2,130 subject experts (vocational education) and 656 security guards who work for the governor and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the state cabinet meeting. Suresh Khanna, Minister for Finance, stated that the move will contribute an additional Rs 18.89 crore to the state exchequer. Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Home and Finance, stated that subject specialists receive 50 per cent of their normal wage as a special incentive. This incentive has been enhanced from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 for intermediate courses.
He stated that the lecture fee has been hiked from Rs 500 to Rs 750. The monthly incentive for high school courses has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000. Additionally, the amount given every lecture has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 500. Security guards will now receive a Rs 22,000 monthly incentive, up from Rs 12,500 previously.
In another decision, the state cabinet resolved to grant subsidies to the administration of various educational institutions to rehire 2,254 teachers whose services were terminated by a government order dated November 9, 2023, by Supreme Court orders.
Out of these 2,254 teachers, 40 have been absorbed and the remaining others will be reemployed on an honorarium basis. Intermediate teachers would be paid Rs 30,000 per month, while high school teachers would receive Rs 20,000.
Earlier, after nearly six years of reportedly halted salaries for teachers under the Centre’s Madrasa Modernisation Scheme in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to discontinue the honorarium or extra payment that these teachers have been receiving since 2016. These educators referred to as ‘modern’ teachers, claim they haven’t received regular salaries since 2017 and have been relying on the supplementary funds introduced by the state government in 2016, following earlier complaints about irregular salary disbursement.
