Apple Inc has launched the Red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as part of the company's collaboration with RED, to raise money for HIV/AIDS programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. The Red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available through online channels and retail stores in over 40 countries and regions starting Friday.

The special Red edition iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have a vibrant red aluminium finish. In India, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Red Special Edition will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at Rs 82,000 from Apple authorised resellers.

The special edition red colour iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in 128GB and 256GB versions will start retailing from March 24 at $749.

Apple had participated in the RED programme long back, but this is the first time that the company has announced a red coloured variant of their flagship phone. Apple's other Red lineup of products include - Beats products and accessories for iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad and the original iPod Nano.
"The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can't wait to get it into customers' hands," Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.

A statement from the company read: "Both special edition models are available worldwide beginning Friday, March 24 and start shipping to customers by the end of March in the US and more than 40 countries and regions, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and United Arab Emirates. Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Turkey and other countries will follow in April."
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition will be available in 128GB and 256GB models starting at price of Rs 82,000 from Apple Authorised Resellers.
However, there is no official confirmation on the pricing from Apple on the price in India of the other red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus variants.
