Yet again, the Narendra Modi-led Central government and the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi are pitted against each other. In an explosive development, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday raided Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's office and sealed it following allegations against the Principal Secretary Rajinder Kumar.
While the CBI's move has led to a huge uproar by the AAP leaders, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brushed aside any whiff of political angle in the matter and dubbed it merely as a procedural action.
Arvind Kejriwal: CBI raids my office. When Modi couldn't handle me politically, he resorts to this cowardice. Modi is a coward and a psychopath. CBI is lying. My own office has been raided. Files of CM office are being looked into. Let Modi say which file he wants? I am the only CM who dismissed, on my own, a minister and a senior officer on charges of corruption and handed their cases to CBI. If CBI had any evidence against Rajender, why didn't they share it with me? I would have acted against him.
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia: Government is trying to curb honest politics of AAP by this kind of CBI raid. People know the truth, BJP will not succeed. BJP should tell us which file they want to see. If it's corruption, then raid CM's home.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh: This is the first time in India that CBI has raided a CM's office. PM Modi is creating an emergency like situation. CBI is working on the instructions of the PM. Why was the CM not informed about the CBI raid at his office beforehand? The PM Modi is targeting AAP government
AAP leader Ashutosh: PM Modi is trying to terrorise the AAP government. This is very undemocratic. This is an attempt to dismiss the AAP government
AAP's Dileep Pandey: The country is a witness to the misuse of CBI by various governments. The central government misusing the CBI for political vendetta is not new. How can the CM office be sealed without consulting the CM. This is undemocratic.
AAP's media coordinator Deepak Vajpayee: The central government has to respond. Modi has failed to deal with us and is resorting to this. A dictator is ruling the country. The people of India will respond.
Union minister Venkaiah Naidu: We don't control the CBI. It is fashionable to blame the PM for everything.
BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi: CBI raids only after evidences. Kejriwal is in no control of his officers. He is known for trying to politicise every issue and even wrong doings
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar: Instead of supporting CBI, Kejriwal is condemning this raid
BJP's Vijender Gupta: I condemn Kejriwal's tweet on Modi
