Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA Pramila Mallick on Monday demanded action against a senior Congress lawmaker accusing him of watching "objectionable" video on his mobile phone during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Monday, a charge denied by the MLA. "The Congress member allegedly watched adult video inside the House. It is a matter of shame for all of us, particularly the women members. I demand strong action against him and a probe into the matter," Mallick, also the president of BJD's women wing, said while drawing attention of the Speaker.
Outside the Assembly, she said she came to know about the matter from a private television channel, which aired the lawmaker watching the objectionable video inside the House. Meanwhile, the MLA denied the allegation and claimed innocence over the matter. "I will give a clarification in the House on Tuesday," Naba Kishore Das, the MLA from Jharsuguda, told reporters.
Though Das admitted that a certain video opened on its own while he was surfing the Internet on his mobile phone, he said, "I have never seen any adult video in my life. It appeared accidentally. I immediately shut it down after I noticed it." Congress MLA Prafulla Majhi came to the rescue of Das and said he did not find any objectionable material in the video.
