With 4.5 billion (450 crore) video views, the Narendra Modi Channel leads the pack in terms of subscribers, video views, and quality of videos being posted by political leaders on YouTube

After being declared the most popular world leader by ‘Morning Consult’ with an approval rating of 76% in early December, the year-ender just got better for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Just a day after Christmas, his YouTube channel has reached 20 million (2 crore) subscribers — a first for any world leader.

With 4.5 billion (450 crore) video views, the Narendra Modi Channel leads the pack in terms of subscribers, video views, and quality of videos being posted by political leaders on YouTube.

Government sources say Narendra Modi’s YouTube Channel both in terms of views and subscribers has far surpassed the YouTube channels of his Indian and global contemporaries. For context, Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro is at a distant second with his YouTube channel having a mere 6.4 million subscribers, which is a little less than one-third of the subscribers the Narendra Modi YouTube Channel has. At third is Ukrainian President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy whose YouTube channel has 1.1 million subscribers.

Not just in terms of subscribers but PM Modi’s YouTube channel also gives other world leaders a run for their money in terms of views. With 22.4 crore views in December 2023, Narendra Modi’s YouTube Channel has 43 times more views than the YouTube Channel of Ukrainian President Zelenskyy who is the global leader with the second highest number of views on his YouTube Channel. In terms of views, Zelensky is at No. 2 with his channel having 5.1 million views. To put things in perspective, Joe Biden’s YouTube channel had 789,000 views this month.

Meanwhile, the video views recorded by Modi’s YouTube channel and its subscribers are way ahead of other Indian political leaders and parties. While the YouTube channel of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi just gained 22.5 lakh subscribers in 2023, Narendra Modi’s channel has added almost triple the amount this year with 63 lakh subscribers.

Narendra Modi’s YouTube channel also has four times more views in 2023 alone compared to the YouTube Channels of Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress (INC), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In fact, the views of the three channels put together don’t equal the views of Modi’s YouTube Channel this year.

As parties get battle ready for the next year’s Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi is a happier person with his unprecedented dominance over YouTube, where he regularly shares his videos and speeches, often live.
