The popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp recently rolled out a new Channels feature, a one-way broadcast tool that provides a private way to receive updates from individuals and organisations within WhatsApp, in India. Now, a new report suggests that the Meta-owned app is working on a feature to share voice messages and stickers in channels.
“It appears that WhatsApp is currently developing new features for channel administrators to enhance their interactions with their followers. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.23.2 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp plans to add a voice message and sticker feature to channels in the future,” WABetaInfo reported.
As per the report, it will be possible to share voice messages in your channels. Currently, it is possible to share a very limited number of message types within channels, such as text messages, photos, videos, and GIFs. With this feature, users will be able to send additional types of messages within their channels.
The report suggested that voice messages and stickers offer a more dynamic and expressive way of communication compared to text alone, and these features can definitely lead to better engagement with channel followers.
In addition, offering the ability to share voice messages and stickers contributes to improve the channel with more efficient communication through updates sharing. These feature can also help channel admins reach a broader audience by making their channels less static and more appealing, it added.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature to share voice messages and stickers in channels is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app.
The instant messaging platform is also planning to roll out a new feature to hide locked chats. The option to hide locked chats is currently in the works and will be available in a future update of the app.
