Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) on Monday said it has reduced the prices of CNG and piped natural gas (PNG) in Mumbai and adjoining municipalities by Rs 3 per kg and Rs 2 per standard cubic metre (scm), respectively. It is the third time that the price of CNG has been reduced this year.
“MGL is pleased to announce a reduction in CNG price by Rs 3/Kg and Domestic PNG (DPNG) by Rs 2/ SCM in and around Mumbai,” Mahanagar Gas Ltd said in a statement.
The revised price of CNG will be Rs 76 per kg and domestic PNG Rs 47 per SCM effective from midnight of October 1-2, according to the statement.
The company said the reduction will further promote usage of natural gas in general and will contribute to increase in consumption of natural gas in the domestic and transportation segment in particular.
In April, prices of CNG and domestic PNG were reduced by Rs 8 per kg and Rs 5 per SCM, respectively. In February, MGL reduced the CNG price by Rs 2.5 per kg.
Meanwhile, commercial cooking gas (LPG) prices were on Sunday raised by a steep Rs 209 per 19-kg cylinder, in line with the firming up seen in international benchmarks. Jet fuel or ATF price was also increased by Rs 5,779.84 per kilolitre, or 5.1 per cent, in the national capital to Rs 118,199.17 per kl from Rs 112,419.33.
However, the price of domestic LPG – the one used in household kitchens for cooking purposes – remained unchanged at Rs 903 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
