Shubman Gill says that 100 percent of his skill and personality have not yet been seen, and that he has plenty more to offer in terms of his aggressive batting.

Team India opener Shubman Gill has been the highest-scoring player in ODI cricket in the year 2023, wherein he has smashed five centuries already along with his maiden World Cup fifty against Bangladesh. Gill for unfortunate to miss out on India’s first two matches of the World Cup, as he was suffering from dengue but he returned just in the nick of time for the high-octane clash against Pakistan.

The 23-year-old scored 16 runs against Pakistan before hitting his first fifty in the World Cup in the next game, followed by a 26-run knock against New Zealand.

This, after Gill had finished the leading run-scorer in the IPL 2023 with 890 runs under his belt in 17 matches. The purple patch for the right-handed opener started in January and since then he has shown an incredible display of aggressive batting across all formats.

Yet, the youngster feels that when he plays a big inning, people only get to see 90 percent of what he can do. Gill in an interview with GQ India revealed that there is plenty more to come from him, not just in terms of his performances but in terms of expressing himself fully.

“It was always within me to bat like that, whenever I get that one big innings, people see 90 percent of who I am. I feel that 100 percent of my skill and personality has still not been seen,” said Gill who smashed 33 sixes in IPL 2023 as Gujarat Titans finished runners-up.

“When I say 100 percent it is not in terms of performance. It is in terms of my own game and what I can do. That is why I switch to a different mode, but it’s not just about that big score. It’s more about what happens next, because I know what happens when I get that score,” he added.

“That’s when I know I can play and be myself. It’s difficult to explain since it’s a very personal experience. That’s how I function, how well I know myself,” the Punjab batter stated further.

Gill will be hoping to add to the tally of ten hundreds he has scored across all formats in the year 2023 when India return to action against England on October 29.
