Zero, KGF Box Office Collection: Shah Rukh Film's Earnings Tumble; Yash-Starrer Continues to Rule
After opening in theatres to poor ratings on December 21, Shah Rukh’s Zero failed to really take off at the box office.

Aanand L Rai's Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, fell short of expectations as it only managed to collect Rs. 64.10 crore in four days of release, reports Box Office India. The film's business witnessed a considerable drop on Monday as it only earned Rs 9.50 crore. "The Monday collections were in the 9.50 crore net range which takes the business of the film to 64 crore net in four days," stated the Box Office India report. However, the film's business is expected to experience growth on Tuesday due to the Christmas holiday.

After opening in theatres to poor ratings on December 21, Shah Rukh’s Zero failed to really take off at the box office. While it earned about Rs 20 crore on Friday, revenue dropped to Rs 18 crore the next day. Earning another 20 crore on Sunday, the film has managed to cross the 50 crore mark over the weekend. The numbers remained similar over the weekend, with no big turnaround.

On the other hand, Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 1 (Kolar Gold Fields) has been running exceptionally well at the box office. The period film, directed by Prashanth Neel, made Rs 75 crore in four days of release, beating Zero, according to HT. The film’s Hindi dub version has also been performing well, raking in Rs 12.1 crore in four days, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Tweeting the box office figures for its Hindi version, Adarsh wrote: "#KGF continues to trend very, very well... Mon is higher than Fri and similar to Sat... #Christmas holiday today should boost its biz further... Fri 2.10 cr, Sat 3 cr, Sun 4.10 cr, Mon 2.90 cr. Total: ₹ 12.10 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version." (sic)

KGF minted Rs 18.1 crore on its opening day, which by any standard is huge for a regional film, and Rs 19.20 crore on the second day of its release. Just the Hindi version of the film has earned over Rs 9 crore in the opening weekend, giving a tough competition to Zero.
