Speaking to News18, renowned adman Prahlad Kakkar said that brand Virushka will get a huge boost with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tying the knot. He went on to say that the marriage of the two stars augurs well for the advertisement industry.
“It is great news for everyone because as a brand Virushka gets stronger. The idea now will be to get a package deal and get both of them to endorse the same product. “Both of them are superstars and by coming together they will be able to command a higher value,” said Kakkar.
He further added that Virat and Anushka’s wedding comes close to the union of Tiger Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore but not bigger than them, noting, “Sharmila was a huge star when she decided to marry Tiger Pataudi. And Mansoor Ali Khan apart from his royalty was also a major style icon. Nothing can beat that.” Kakkar also said that Virushka’s marriage is as big as Abhishek Bachchan tying the knot with Aishwarya Rai as both of them were superstars when they got married.
On the other hand, brand value analyst Harish Bijoor had another take on the subject, saying, “I have contrary views on this, while it is great that the couple got married but their brand value will go down. Individually each of them have great brand presence but just like Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan they will eventually become just another couple. I wish them all the best for their life.”
Shailendra Singh, former joint managing director of Percept Group and a renowned brand specialist, compared Virushka’s marriage to that of Former England Football captain David Beckham and Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham. “I think this is as big as Beckham marrying Victoria. Virat sells as a youth icon and also as a family ambassador and his marriage to Anushka will throw open the market for them. I think they will be able to command a lot more value together than they did individually,” he said, adding, “Both of them are a symbol and example for young India, the fact that you can have a life on the field and off it as well and that you don’t need to hide anything.”
