Priyanka Chopra has confirmed she will not be walking the red carpet of the Met Gala 2024. The actress confirmed that she will not be attending the annual fashion event due to her shooting schedule. For the unversed, Priyanka is shooting her new film, Heads of State, in Europe. The actress has been sharing photos and videos from the sets on social media. In a new interview, Priyanka revealed she is still caught up with the filming and will not be at the Met Gala this year.
“I don’t even know who’s going this year. I’m definitely not attending this year because I’m filming, but I think I really do enjoy watching people’s creativity during the Met Gala and I am really excited to see how it will turn out. I actually have not read anything about who all is going this year,” Priyanka Chopra told Access Hollywood. When she was informed that Zendaya will be present, Priyanka said, “She’s amazing, so we definitely look forward to her.”
Priyanka has attended the Met Gala thrice in the past. She made her Met debut with her now-husband Nick Jonas by her side in 2017. She returned to the gala twice after that.
The Met Gala is annually celebrated on the first Monday in May and this year, it is set to take place on May 6. The theme for this year’s event is ‘The Garden of Time,’ inspired by the 1962 short story of the same name by author JG Ballard. Other than Zendaya and Jennifer, the event will be co-chaired by Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth. Additionally, Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, and Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of TikTok, were invited as honorary chairs.
During the recent red carpet event for her upcoming movie The Challengers, Zendaya was questioned about JLo’s iconic fashion and if there were any classic JLo looks that made her go wow. Without hesitation, Zendaya stated, “I think the one that always comes to mind is obviously the Versace, the iconic deep V.”
