Pratibha Ranta Says Laapataa Ladies Is 'More Like An Emotion Now'

Laapataa Ladies featuring Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastava, garnered a positive response upon its release. The movie truly stole hearts after its OTT debut on Netflix, where it garnered much-deserved attention and praise from audiences. Recently, Pratibha sat for an interview and shared her experience working on Kiran Rao’s directorial movie.

In a conversation with Filmygyan, Pratibha Ranta expressed that the film has deeply resonated with viewers. She emphasised that it’s more than just a story. She mentioned that people are not only praising her character, Jaya Singh but also showing equal love for Phool Kumari and Deepak Kumar.

Pratibha said, “I’ve noticed that Laapataa Ladies has become more like an emotion. Whenever something happens, like if Jaya is getting a lot of praise, someone will say, ‘Praise Phool too,’ and suddenly Phool gets a lot of praise. If Phool is praised, then how can you miss Deepak? It’s just so beautiful to watch how people are emotionally connecting themselves to this film. I feel Laapataa has really become an emotion.”

Further, speaking about her experience on set, Pratibha Ranta said, “I remember when we were shooting Laapata Ladies, it was during the third wave. On set, looking at ma’am (Kiran Rao), you would never think there was any panic at all. Another great thing about ma’am is that on set, she pampers everyone a lot. We had so much fun and laughter during the shoot that we didn’t even realize how the time passed. I think my best experience was Laapataa Ladies.”

Other than Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha and Sparsh Shrivastava, the Aamir Khan-produced movie also featured Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan in key roles. The movie tells the story of two young newly-wed brides who accidentally get swapped during a train journey to their husbands’ homes.

Interestingly, 2024 has turned out to be successful for Pratibha Ranta, other than Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, the actress is also getting praised for her brief role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut series, Heeramandi, featuring Sanjeeda Sheikh, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha and Manisha Koirala.
