'My Name is Lakhan' Singer Mohammed Aziz Passes Away at 64
Veteran singer Mohammad Aziz passes away in Mumbai's Nanavati Hosptial. He was 64.

Bollywood singer Mohammed Aziz died in Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. He was 64.

Aziz was a prominent name in the Hindi, Bengali and Oria film industries. Born in Ashoknagar of West Bengal, aziz started his playback singing career with Bengali film Jyoti. Later, he moved to Mumbai where he sang for Ambar (1984).

An ardent Rafi lover, Aziz came to limelight after his song Mard Tangewala from Mard (1985) became popular. This was just the beginning of a scintillating career that saw him working with all the top composers from Kalyanji-Anandji to Rajesh Roshan to Nadeem-Shravan.

From the ‘80s superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakravarty to younger actors like Govinda, he lent his voice for all the top actors of his time.

Songs like Teri Bewafai from Ram Avtar and the title track of Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka made him a popular name among the music lovers. His fans cherish every note of songs like Patjhar Sawan Basant Bahar and Pyaar Humara Amar Rahega. In fact, he was one of the most loved singers in between the era of Rafi-Kishore and Sanu-Udit.

Later, he became active in the Odia film industry where he sang a number of bhajans and film songs. Till his last days, he was one of those rare singers who could strike a perfect chord even at the highest musical notes.
