Kamal Haasan's Uncle, Aruir Srinivasan Dies Aged 92; Actor Mourns

Actor Kamal Haasan’s uncle, Srinivasan, reportedly passed away from a heart attack at the age of 92. He took his last breath in Kodaikanal, where he resided. His body was brought to Chennai from Kodaikanal and placed at the Makkal Needhi Maiam’s office in Alwarpet. The final rites and cremation took place on April 23 at Besant Nagar crematorium. Minister Ma. Subramanian, Charuhasan, and Kamal Haasan’s associates attended the cremation ceremony of the veteran actor’s uncle.

Kamal Haasan, accompanied by his daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan, was seen shedding tears as they paid tribute to their late grandfather. Kamal Haasan posted the news of his uncle’s demise on X (formerly Twitter).

Sharing a picture of his uncle, the veteran actor wrote, “Uncle Aruir Srinivasan, who played a major role in shaping my personality, passed away today at the age of 92 in Kodaikanal. Uncle Vasu was a heroic figure among his relatives and friends for his revolutionary ideas and brave deeds. His body will be brought to the Makkal Needhi Maiam office tonight for the last rites. I would like to inform you that tomorrow (23-04-24) at 10:30 am cremation will be done at Besant Nagar crematorium,” as translated from Tamil.

Kamal Haasan’s daughter, Shruti Haasan, also shared a story on Instagram with a picture of her late grandfather. She wrote, “Rest in peace and power Vasu Mama – you will be dearly missed. Thank you for all my defining childhood memories, walking through the woods in Kodi for hours telling me about life, teaching me about nature and regaling me with your gorgeous stories. You were one of a kind, a true rebel and a heart of pure gold – love you forever Vasu Mama.”

The veteran actor will soon depart for Delhi to resume shooting for the film “Thug Life” under the direction of Mani Ratnam. Reports suggest that shooting for the film has already commenced with other cast members.
