Tamil actor Jiiva lost his cool after journalists asked him about alleged sexual abuse in the Tamil film industry. The actor, best known for films such as ’83 and Nanban, was in Theni in Tamil Nadu to attend an event when he was asked about the MeToo movement in Kerala. While Jiiva weighed in on the issue, a journalist asked him if Tamil film industry faces similar issues. The actor claimed there is no problem in Tamil film industry. However, the exchange did not end there. Things got heated and Jiiva ended up yelling at a journalist.
“I’ve already replied to this, I can’t keep replying again and again”, Jiiva said. India Today claimed that Jiiva asked the journalist, who asked the question, if he ‘had sense’. This caused a scuffle between the two and journalists raised objections against Jiiva’s behaviour. The actor was soon escorted out of the venue. Watch the video below:

His response and behaviour with the media has caught everyone’s attention. This includes singer
Chinmayi Sripaada. Reposting the video featuring Jiiva’s scuffle, Chinmayi said, “I really do not understand how they are saying sexual harassment does not exist in Tamil Industry. HOW?!”

His reaction came shortly after Rajinikanth claimed he is unaware of the details of the Hema Committee Report. Rajinikanth was seen at Chennai airport on Sunday, where reporters swarmed his car to ask about his upcoming film Coolie and other topics. While he happily discussed most things, he seemed totally unaware of the Hema Committee report that has sent ripples across the Malayalam film industry and the whole nation. “I don’t know…I don’t know anything about that. Sorry,” he said.
For the unversed, the Hema Committee Report has sparked the second wave of MeToo movement. A number of actors in the Kerala Film Industry have come forward to speak about the sexual harassment they’ve faced in the past. Mohanlal and Mammootty have also welcomed the report and have extended their support to the changes it will bring to the Malayalam film industry.
