Amitabh Bachchan is synonymous to the word stardom. He is a Bollywood superstar and an iconic actor in Indian cinema. There was a time, when he was just a college student who had no clue what to do with his life, just like everyone else. In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, the superstar reminisced about his college days. In the latest KBC episode, host Amitabh Bachchan introduced the contestant Avinash Bharti on the coveted hot seat. An introductory video for the contestant was played on the screens. According to the clip, Avinash was a resident of Haiderganj, Uttar Pradesh. The video also featured Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, from where he had completed his education.
Amitabh Bachchan had also attended the same college; he received his BSc degree from Kirori Mal College. The actor then recalled his time in the college, where he talked about his hostel’s room number 27. The superstar said, “There were so many good things in the video. One of them was that I studied in this college.” He further said, “That hostel room is lovely, isn’t it? It’s in a corner. You can see the wall from that room. We used to jump that wall to watch movies.” He continued, talking about how he felt he was a failure there, “Seriously, let me tell you that all the years I spent there proved to be a waste. I didn’t achieve anything. I just lost.”
According to him, his BSc degree is of no use to him now. He states, “After that I completed my BSc and it doesn’t have an iota of use in whatever I am doing these days.” To this, the contestant Avinash replied, “Sir, you were destined to become a superstar.” Amitabh Bachchan simply said, “This title was spread by the reporters. I do not believe in it.”
Amitabh Bachchan obtained his early education from Boys’ High School & College in Allahabad, and then Sherwood College in Nainital. In 1962, he completed his graduation from the Kirori Mal College.
