Why These Telangana Tractor Drivers Are Protesting After Being Fined For Not Wearing Seatbelts
The drivers were shocked and started protesting against the fines. Let’s find out why.

Traffic rules have been set up to ensure the safety of all those who drive vehicles. They are put in place by the government and other relevant agencies. These rules are applicable for everyone who uses the road, including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Following these rules properly not only helps drivers, but also other people around them. If these rules are not followed, traffic police have the right to impose a challan or fine on the driver, which can cost a lot of money; in some cases, even land them in jail. A similar situation has been making rounds in Telangana, where a group of tractor drivers have been imposed a fine by the traffic police for not wearing their seatbelts. The interesting part about it was that a tractor does not have a seatbelt.

In the Bhadradri Kothagudem district, which is located near the eastern side of Godavari in Telangana, there are many sandy lands. These sand ramps are transported from this area to different parts of the state through trucks and tractors. Recently, the government of Telangana launched an application named Mana Isuka Vahanam – an IT-based solution app through which people can order sand at their doorsteps. These sands are picked up from sites and delivered to customers. Recently, a set of deliveries was being made when the drivers were notified about their fines. They later discovered that the challans were for not wearing seatbelts while driving the tractors.

The drivers were shocked and started protesting against the fines. Many of them were surprised, as the tractors do not have a seatbelt. Many people have criticised the police for not having the right knowledge of the rules. They also argued that tractors are not included in the motor vehicle acts. As of now, there has not been any response by the government or the traffic police on these challans.
