New Delhi: With the Volcker storm back in the limelight, the BJP appears to be in a dilemma on whether to act against the suspended firebrand leader Uma Bharti or let the matter rest for the time-being.
The party, in throes of a severe internal crisis, would definitely not want the limelight back on the internal affairs of the party, which is undergoing a crisis.
As the deadline for Bharti to reply to the show-cause notice expired without as much as a word from her, party leaders consulted each other on the issue and appeared to be on the horns of a dilemma.
With fresh ammunition in the kitty to put the Government on the mat on the Volcker issue, BJP is contemplating whether expelling Uma will bring back BJP's internal crisis.
Some of the leaders felt that having suspended her from the party's primary membership, it would be advisable to put the issue in the cold storage till the Volcker storm subsides.
Some of them were even of an opinion that the matter should be left pending for the next party president, who takes over from LK Advani next month, to take a final decision.
While the second generation leaders appeared to be in a hurry to remove her and close the chapter forever unmindful of media attention, senior leaders, including Advani, are understood to be in favour of watching her moves, the actions of her loyalists and the response of the people, before arriving at a final decision.
"It is now for the party President to decide what action to take and when," party General Secretary Arun Jaitley said.
