Speaker to hold floor leaders meet on Wednesday

HYDERABAD: Assembly speaker N Manohar has decided convene a meeting of the Assembly floor leaders of all parties on Wednesday to discuss the demand for a discussion on suicides in Telangana.After adjourning the House, TRS MLAs staged a dharna near the speaker’s chamber demanding a debate on the suicides and the situation in the region. After some time, the speaker invited TRS MLAs to discussions.Speaking with reporters, TRSLP leader Etela Rajendar said that if the speaker failed to accept their demand, they would stall the proceedings. On Tuesday they allowed the proceedings on the SC and ST sub-plans issue because of TRS’ commitment to Dalit welfare, he claimed.Meanwhile, TRS MLA KT Rama Rao demanded that the Union home minister convene an all-party meeting to take a concrete decision on Telangana. Only one representative from each political party should be invited to the meeting, he said.MLA P Srinivas Reddy, urged the youth and students not to commit suicide, saying that formation of Telangana state was certain.
