HYDERABAD: Six counterfeit currency racketeers were nabbed on Sunday and Rs 1.33 lakh fake currency recovered.The accused are B Murari Goud, who runs a diagnostic lab in Qutbullapur and resident of Jeedimetla, N Mohan Goud of Dundigal, P Satish Babu of Asif Nagar, P Srininvas Goud of Kukatpally, K Kiran Kumar of Langer Houz and Mohammed Qadeer Khan of Medak district. Task Force DCP Ch Ramchander the gang operates in two manners. Murari Goud is getting the fake notes printed in his house with the help of Jayaram and Krishna. The fake money is then circulated through his other associates in 1:2 ratio. “For smaller amounts, the gang is giving fake currency by printing. If the party demands huge quantity of fake currency, they prepare white paper bundles in the size of Rs 500 and cover the bundle with fake Rs 500 on top and bottom to cheat the party,’’ Ramchander said. Police said one of the accused, Satish Babu obtained Rs 2.4 lakh fake currency through two persons, Venkat and Rambabu by giving Rs 1.7 lakh a few years back. After couple of days, Venkat and Rambabu were arrested by Nidadavolu police and fearing arrest Satish changed his address. To circulate fake currency, Satish Babu used his friends Mohan Goud and Srinivas by giving Rs 65,000 fake currency and Rs 1.05 lakh to each respectively.“Mohan Goud, who works in a private finance company circulated the fake currency by mixing original notes in dealings of the company. Srinivas Goud took the help of his childhood friend, Qadeer and circulated the currency by making petty purchases,’’ the DCP said.The two other accused, Jayaraj and Krishna are at large. Police recovered Rs 1.33 lakh fake currency of Rs 1,000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 denominations, Rs 4,200 original currency, couple of two-wheelers, a colour printer, one CPU, seven phones and other incriminating material. The accused were handed over to Bowenpally police for further action.
