SEWA demands CBI probe

KOCHI: The Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) Union Kerala took out a march to the Ernakulam range inspector general’s (IG) office and held a dharna demanding CBI or CB-CID to investigate the death of minor domestic worker Amutha. They also submitted a representation to the IG. Amutha from Vilipuram was working as a domestic help at a house in Kallanikkal,  Kothamangalam, for the past two and half years and was reported to have committed suicide. Suspecting foul play, her parents and many organisations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu had registered complaints but no action has been taken so far.  Kerala Prathikarana Vedi, Tamil Nadu Domestic Workers Union and Tamil Nadu Human Rights Movement also joined the march and dharna.
