Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe state government has constituted three groups with secretaries for effective implementation of programmes in road, social and primary sectors. For each sector a group of secretaries (GoS) has been constituted by the planning department. The GoS concerned will coordinate with all the departments concerned and see that better results are achieved. The chief secretary will be the chairperson of all the GoSs In the primary sector, the government is implementing several flagship programmes of the central and state governments for people’s welfare. Monitoring of the programmes on a regular basis has been recognised as essential. The GoS will ensure improvement in outcome indicators in areas like increase in food grain production, area under System of Rice Intensification (SRI) paddy cultivation, increase in the area under pulses and reduction in the post-harvest losses and establishment of cold storage units. Besides, promotion of agriculture business for achieving better returns to farmers, improving marketing facilities and others will also be monitored. The government planned to provide road connectivity through convergence of Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF), Integrated Action Plan (IAP), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Schedule Caste Sub Plan (SCSP), Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) The government is implementing several schemes for developing rural infrastructure and road connectivity. It is estimated that about 26 per cent habitations in the state lack all-weather roads. A GoS formed on it will monitor the progress of works in this sector. The planning department constituted another GoS for convergence of social sector flagship programmes for improvement in HDI and achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDG). The government is implementing social sector programmes in areas of primary education (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan-SSA), Pre-school Education and Nutrition (Integrated Child Development Service- ICDS, Nutrition cum Day Care Centres - NDCC and Mid Day Meals -MDM) and Rural health (National Rural Health Mission - NRHM). The review of HDI and MDG indicates the scope and areas of improvements in the service delivery of these programmes. first published:August 27, 2012, 12:34 ISTlast updated:August 27, 2012, 12:34 IST
