Ravi Kishan gets his 1st solo hero film in B'wood
Waiting for more meaty roles in Bollywood, Ravi Kishan says he is happy doing supporting roles till then.

Kolkata: Having acted in over 170 Bhojpuri films and 50 Hindi films in his 20-year-old acting career, Ravi Kishan is surprised to find that 'Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal' will be his first Bollywood film where he is playing the main lead. "When I look back, it is quite surprising. I have done so many Hindi films but never played the solo lead. I played supporting characters but was never the protagonist in any of my Hindi films so far," the 41-year-old actor told reporters here.

His CV includes Bollywood films like the Salman Khan starrer 'Tere Naam' (2003), multi-starrer 'Luck' (2009), Mani Ratnam's 'Raavan' (2010) and Saif Ali Khan's 'Agent Vinod'.

Directed by debutant Manish Vatslya, 'Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal' will hit the screens on September 14. Set in modern day Bihar, the gangster film is the story of four small-time criminals from a small village who are hired to kill someone in Mumbai.

"The reason of choosing this film remains its script. I want strong character-driven roles and will not mind playing roles which are small but significant," Ravi said.

When asked whether the film will present contemporary Bihar to the rest of India, the actor said, "Wherever I go I take Bihar with me. That is my USP, my power and it remains whether I go to 'Bigg Boss', dance in 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' or act in films of Mani Ratnam or that of Shyam Benegal".

Waiting for more meaty roles in Bollywood, he said he is happy doing supporting roles till then.

His forthcoming films include 'Mohalla Assi' with Sunny Deol and 'Zilla Ghaziabad' with Sanjay Dutt. Besides, he will also have a role in Aditya Chopra's 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'.
