Hyderabad: Top shooters from across the country will be taking part in the 49th National Shooting Championship beginning at the Central University Shooting Range in Hyderabad from Wednesday.
"While Athens silver medialist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has been practising here, other big guns are likely to arrive before start of the championship", a member of the State Rifle Association Organising Committee said.
The ten-day event has attracted more than 150 shooters in various categories and will be one of the three qualifying rounds for the ensuing Commonwealth games.
Besides Rathore, Jaspal Rana, Anjali Bahagwat, Navin Jindal, Mooradali Kahan, Rajpal Singh Kochar, Amardeep Rai, Mansheer Singh, Zoravar Singh SAndhu, Manavijit Singh Sandhu, Amit Sanghi and Gagan Narang are some of the prominent shooters to be seen in action at the shooting range.
While opening ceremony and training will be held on first day, finals of all event will be held from December 3 to 10.
The events include free pistol, Stndard pistol (women), Air Pistol(Men), Free Rifle Prone, Rapid Fire Pistol, Air Pistol(Women), Standard Rifle Prone, Air Rifle (Men), Standard Rifle 3 Position, Centre Fire Pistol, Free Rifle 3 position, Air Rifle Women, Standard Pistol, Double Trap, Skeet and Trap.
