Jaipur: At a time neighbouring Haryana is struggling to contain Jat agitations for reservation benefits, Rajputs in Rajasthan have threatened to launch agitations in eight states demanding quotas.
A statement issued Monday by the Rajput group Karni Sena said protests will be launched if quota benefits are not given to the economically backward among the community.
Karni Sena is set to give a memorandum on this issue to MLAs and ministers asking them to raise the issue in the Rajasthan assembly during the upcoming budget session.
The group said the government should either include economically backward Rajputs in the reservation list, or do away with quotas altogether. Karni Sena leaders are set to meet after February 28 to chalk out future course of action.
They said the agitation will be launched in eight states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
This comes at a time Haryana is struggling to contain the violent agitation by Jats for reservation quotas.
Last, year Rajputs in Gujarat held protests demanding quotas when the Patidar community was agitating for reservations.
