CHENNAI: A writ plea has been made in the HC to quash a notification dated November 11 this year of the Union Railway Ministry, which made certain new conditions for obtaining railway tickets under the Tatkal system. The first bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam, before which the public interest writ petition from S Srinivasa Raghavan of Ayanavaram came up for hearing today, ordered notice to the railways returnable in two weeks. The Novemebr 11 notification reduced the advance reservation periodfrom two days to one day. No refund would be made on cancellation of confirmed ticket, it said, and added that no duplicate tatkal tickets would be issued.Petitioner contended that these newly stipulated norms were very stringent in nature and would affect the railway passengers. It had been made without application of mind, petitioner added.
