BHUBANESWAR: The members of the All India Kendriya Vidyalaya Teachers Association (AIKVTA), Bhubaneswar Circle covering Odisha and Jharkhand, have alleged non-implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission award. The teachers are observing ‘demand week’ to express their resentment. During this period, they will go about their routine work but wear badges associated with the agitation. In September, they had staged a similar demonstration but were assured that their demands would be given serious consideration. However, the award is yet to be implemented. According AIKVTA president Ashok Kumar Mohanty, as per the Sixth Pay Commission, there should have been an increment of pay for the existing teachers. They want the implementation of Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme under which the basic pay is increased every 10 years. The scheme has already been extended to the non-teaching staff, but the teachers are yet to reap the benefits, said Mohanty. Kendriya Vidyalayas fall under the HRD Ministry. The association also demanded the conversion of CPF to GPF and enhancement of the retirement age from 60 years to 62 years.
