Jama Masjid firing: Rs 10 lakh reward for info
Delhi Police announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information about the 2 bikers involved in the Jama Masjid incident last month.

New Delhi: Having failed to make headway in its probe into the firing on Taiwanese tourists, the Delhi Police on Thursday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information about the two bikers involved in the Jama Masjid incident last month or those who helped them execute the attack.

Announcing the reward, City Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal sought the help of public in providing investigators clues about those involved in the firing on September 19 at Jama Masjid that left two Taiwanese nationals injured or their aides.

Investigators have questioned around 50 people in connection with the strikes on last Sunday but "no concrete" headway has been made in the probe while several teams are in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai to find some links in the case, a senior police official said.

Police initially attributed the firing on Taiwanese media crew and the incident of a car catching fire after a "crudely-circuited and poorly assembled" device went off within two hours after the first attack to "disgruntled youths and local criminal gangs", ruling out involvement of any organised terror outfit.

The assertion came despite outlawed Indian Mujahideen claiming responsibility for the strikes and warning of more attacks ahead of Commonwealth Games in an email sent to several media organisations.

However, the next day Delhi Police did a somersault saying they cannot rule out terror angle and even Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal exclaiming "who said that" when asked about the investigator's stand the previous day.
