KURNOOL: Tension prevailed at Yemmiganur town in the district when PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana and YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy descended on the town as part of their election campaigning on Sunday. While the YSR Congress leaders tried to disrupt the road show of the PCC chief, the police objected to Jagan’s unauthorised public meeting leading to his party activists laying siege to the police station.The YSR Congress party cadre tried to disrupt the campaigning of Botcha Satyanarayana at Somappa circle in Yemmiganur. They raised slogans against Satyanarayana. The police intervened and use mild force to disperse the mob. Though the PCC president tried to address the gathering, he had to leave the place after YSR Congress activists returned and tried to obstruct him. They later removed the flags and banners of the Congress party. Based on a complaint by the Congress leaders, the police took five YSR Congress leaders into custody. A group of Jagan men also tried to lay siege to the Yemmiganur police station but the police pacified them and sent them back.Earlier, the police removed the platform erected for Jagan to address the gathering near Somappa Circle notwithstanding the protests made by the party activists. The police stated that they did not obtain prior permission from them for conducting the meeting.
