MALAPPURAM: Wednesday is going to be the toughest day in the recent history of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), as the party strives to fulfil the promise of party state president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal. The UDF meeting to decide on the fifth minister will be held in T’Puram on Wednesday.“Thangal is extremely angry over the current situation. The family’s reputation is in peril as his promise to elevate Manjalamkuzhi Ali to a ministerial post is getting delayed. He is even planning to relinquish his post if his word could not be kept,” sources close to the Panakkad family told ‘Express’.Most of the leaders were earlier reluctant to pressurise the government for the fifth ministerial post soon after the Piravom result. But things have changed drastically as leaders P K Kunhalikkutty and KPA Majeed openly stated that they were not ready for any compromise on the issue. “Pressure is mounting on IUML MLAs. Party members are also angry with the leaders who are not able to fulfil the state president’s promise. They demand the resignation of IUML ministers if the Congress fails to give a ministerial post to Manjalamkuzhi Ali,” a party MLA told ‘Express’. Meanwhile, Congress is not willing to disturb the community equation in the Cabinet, at least till the Neyyattinkara bypoll.
