'If NRC Implemented In Bengal, Entire Country Will Burn': Union Minister Gets 'Threat' Letter From LeT
Thakur said he would like to ask West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who is also the home minister of the state, whether she had any information about the LeT sending such a letter

Union minister and BJP leader Shantanu Thakur claimed on Monday that he received a letter from the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), warning that if the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is implemented in West Bengal, they will “burn the entire country”.

The letter, written in Bengali, also threatened to destroy the ‘Thakurbari’, a pilgrimage site of the Matua community, if Muslims were mistreated following the implementation of the NRC.

“I am shocked to receive this letter. I have informed my department. I will also inform the PM, the home ministry and lodge a case in this connection,” said Thakur, who serves as the Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, to reporters.

The Union Minister said he would like to ask West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also serves as the home minister of the state, whether she had any knowledge of the LeT sending such a letter.

When contacted for comment, Bongaon Police District SP Dinesh Kumar stated that they have not yet received any formal complaint from the minister.

The signatories of the letter, a copy of which is available with PTI, claimed they were members of the LeT in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
