Fire at Ravipuram shop, no casualties

KOCHI: A major disaster was averted as Fire and Rescue Services personnel intervened just in time to douse a blaze in a shop at Pallimukku junction on Thursday. Fire was noticed around 12 noon in the godown of ‘Crystal N’ Craft’, a showroom of trophies and medals. No casualties were reported, though a loss of Rs 5 lakh has been estimated. The showroom’s godown where the fire started, is on the first floor. Short-circuit is suspected to be the reason for the mishap. Fire force units from Club Road, Gandhinagar and Cochin Ship Yard,doused the flames, said officials.The Fire and Rescue team lead by Divisional Officer Joe Kuruvila Isho, Station officers K J James and A S Jogi extinguished the fire after nearly an hour.
