Kochi: A special team of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) raided the house of former Kerala excise minister K. Babu at Tripunithura on Saturday.
The vigilance raids were conducted on the basis of an FIR registered against him at the Vigilance court in Moovattupuzha, for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The VACB is also conducting raids at houses of Babu's children in Thodupuzha and Kochi, and people suspected to be acting as his benami.
On January 23, 2016, Babu had resigned as excise minister in the wake of a Vigilance court that directed filing of an FIR against him in the bar bribery case, on the allegation by hotelier Biju Ramesh that he had accepted Rs 10 crore as bribe for renewal of licences of bars.
