HYDERABAD: The results for the web-based counselling for Eamcet will be declared on August 14 for 1.36 lakh students who attended counselling. Close to 40 per cent engineering seats will remain vacant and only 50 to 60 per cent seats under the management quota are likely to be filled across the state.Out of the 2.07 lakh candidates who have qualified in the exam, only 1.36 lakh students turned up for certificate verification. An estimated 74,000 seats under the convener quota and close to 45,000 seats under management quota will remain vacant due to drop in the number of applications.Nearly 2 lakh seats fall under the convener quota and 85,000 seats are assigned to be filled through the management quota. The classes are scheduled to begin from August 24. The craze for computer science followed by electronics and communication engineering (ECE) stream remains unabated. There seems to be few takers for EEE as mechanical engineering seems to have caught on as a viable option. The demand for management seats in these streams is likely to increase once the results of the recently concluded web counselling are declared.
